About me

Hi! My name is Yu Xin!
Hi there! My name is Yu Xin and I'm currently a year 3 student studying Digital Film and Television at Temasek Polytechnic, School of Design. with a multifaceted background in trying out both the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking, I've found my passion in exploring the two facets for opportunities to grow and develop my skills.
The most common question I get is, "Why did you decide to study film?" Well... my interest in the world of film began ever since I was young. Watching movies featuring Stephen Chow with my family has always been a cherished memory for me as our house echoed with laughter. Growing up, films have always been able to resonate with me on a deep level as each film captures the intricacies of complex human emotions. This inspires me to also be a part of making a film that would also inspire people. I feel it is beautiful that film has a way of bringing people together by sharing personal stories through compelling visual storytelling which attracts people who resonate with it.
At Temasek Polytechnic, I had the opportunity to create various short film projects. From drama to horror, each project offers valuable lessons and insights into the world of filmmaking. Whether collaborating with fellow students on ambitious short films or pushing the boundaries of storytelling in experimental projects, every endeavor has been a stepping stone towards honing my craft and refining my unique voice as a filmmaker. Beyond the confinements of my school assignments, I have also sought opportunities outside to explore. For instance, I have volunteered to help out on passion projects that my friends have made. Not to mention I have also helped out primarily as an art assistant in both my friend's horror short film and my seniors' final year projects.
